Green Placenta Smoothie Anyone?

My advice is always to do your research (from sources you trust) then follow your heart. Evidence-Based recommendations are great but are not without error.
More than likely, you are either into eating your placenta or just flat out disgusted by it. Wherever you fall on the spectrum, you are entitled to that choice. Currently, there is no evidence-based research to support placenta encapsulation, but there are many “feel good” anecdotal claims of numerous benefits.
I didn’t consume my placenta with my first baby, but my doula encapsulated for my second baby. Did I notice a difference in my postpartum experience? YES! My advice is always to do your research (from sources you trust) then follow your heart. Evidence-Based recommendations are great but are not without error.
While working with a postpartum-doula client last week, I got to prepare her a Green Placenta Smoothie (shown in the picture above.) Her doula cleaned and sliced her placenta into small chunks, then froze it between parchment paper, so that it would be easy to remove and pop into a yummy fruit and veggie smoothie. (If you decide to go this route, I recommend you have your partner prepare it for you so that you never have to see it.)
